Head coach Jim Rankin’s Wolverines were led by quarterback Brian Esoldo and running backs Jeff Beatrice, Billy Chapman and Mike Dominnelli. Other notable Ellwood City players included Craig Ketterer, Joe Roth, Bill Perretta, Billy Viccari, Dave Hall, Scott Timmerman and Nick Perry.

Riverside head coach Karl Florie countered with quarterback Mark Melfi, running back Michael Potter, wide receiver Carl Houk and defensive standout Mark Altsman.
